Homemade Man Beef Burgers with Avocado, Blue Cheese, Bacon and Fresh Rocket
1kg Beef mince (10% -15% fat)
1 Finely chopped onion
2 cloves crushed garlic
Tbl spoon Dijon mustard
½ tsp coriander seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
1 Sliced Fresh avocado
125g Blue cheese slices or Blue cheese sauce – (combine 125g blue cheese with 100ml cream, heat until cheese is melted and sauce is smooth)
2 Sliced Tomatoes
200g streaky bacon – (can be substituted with Macon)
5 toasted ciabatta rolls – Slice in half brush with olive oil and toast in a hot pan
Combine all the patty ingredients in a bowl and mix lightly with your hands. Don’t overwork the meat or you will toughen it.
Divide the meat into 5 parts, giving a 180g – 200g patty. Form the mixture into patties using your hands. Make a small indentation with your thumb in the middle of each patty. This will help it keep its shape during the cooking process.
Cover the patties with cling film and let rest until ready to be cooked.
Cook in a griddle pan on medium heat or on the braai for 8 – 10 minutes or until the desired degree is reached.
Assemble your Burgers with all your toppings and serve with some chunky potato wedges.
