Michaela Smith emerged victorious with her winning dish, Africado Chocopear Synergy. The competition required Chef students to use at least two avos with a South African twist. There were two rounds of judging, a Facebook vote and then the professional Chef’s judging. Michaela says that she’s inspired by her mom and Master Chef Australia.
What makes Michaela’s story even more inspiring is that she hasn’t let her deafness become an obstacle in realising her food dreams. Under the patient guidance of her Chef lecturers, she continues to strive #LivingTheDream!
Together with her prize money, the Durban campus received R10 000 which is being used to improve the student pause area.
