The Great Capsicum Cook-Off
What better way to celebrate Capsicum’s 12th birthday this year, than with a mystery basket cook-off. Six food bloggers and six of Cape Town campus top chef students joined forces on 29 October with 12 ingredients in each mystery basket to produce two dishes in less than two hours.
The kitchen was abuzz with nervous anticipation, sounds of sizzles and bowls clanging as the 6 teams carefully planned their menus, collected equipment and started cooking. Adding to the atmosphere was the outside broadcast of Smile 90.4 FM’s #SmileDrive team DJ’s; Bailey Schneider and Maurice Carpede who added another exciting dimension to the day!
Our students stood out on the day and took on the challenge with enthusiasm and passion for their craft. The bloggers on the other hand were carefully chosen to cook-off with the students because of their love and involvement with food and the culinary industry as a whole.
