Zaheera is a professional in the pastry field with a distinction qualification as a Professional Patisserie Chef, which she received at Capsicum Culinary Studio, Cape Town Campus.
Zaheera Musa was inspired by her student experience at Capsicum and encouraged by her mentor chefs to pursue her dreams, and so opened High Tea Tighty, near fashionable Cavendish Square in Cape Town. Zaheera, a Fine Arts graduate, combines her creative flair and her love of baking in her successful coffee shop and novelty cake outlet. She calls herself a “cake artist”, and says that she loves nothing more than to hear, “Wow, how did you do that?!”, when someone receives one of her special occasion cakes.
Zaheera received the Top Student Award in her graduation year as well as a City & Guilds Gold Medal of Excellence in Patisserie.
She shared some of her experiences and gave some advice: She warns prospective culinary students that being in the food industry is not a soft option, but a profession and hard work. To entrepreneurs her advice is to get experience first to make sure you understand what the business behind your passion entails. She also says to always watch for new trends. Her general advice regarding food is to always use top quality ingredients and she includes LOVE as the essential ingredient!
