I just have to share what I’ve learned at Capsicum Culinary Studio. As a Training Specialist at Spar in the Cape Town region, I can now share what I have learned during my studies. It is wonderful to apply the theory in a practical environment.
I studied at Capsicum Culinary Studio from 2010 – 2011 and completed the Advanced Diploma in Culinary Arts and Patisserie, did the 6 months Entrepreneurship course as well as the Diploma in Professional Cookery.
Since Capsicum I have been around. My in-service training started at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Port Elizabeth. The next step was becoming a Demo Chef for a kitchen shop in La Lucia for a few months. Then I started a new job at the Moorcroft Manor Country House in the Southern Drakensberg as their Kitchen Manager. I worked there for over 3 months and then the Spar opportunity came along, which started in June 2014. I did the Spar Retail Management Programme and finally graduated on 28 July 2014. I was based in Durban but represented the Western Cape region. The Spar training programme was intense and involved learning about all aspects of retail by working in the different Spar stores throughout KZN.
I’m currently based in Cape Town as the Training HMR (Home Meal Replacement) Specialist for the region. What I enjoy most about what I do is the interactions I have with people at the stores and sharing my knowledge of the food and functionalities of the business as a whole. The idea that I can provide business advice to a store owner and see their hot foods and cold meats departments flourish, gives me immense satisfaction.
